Matching ServiceM8 clients to Xero contacts

How Sidekick links each ServiceM8 client to its Xero contact so job costs land on the right customer.

Your jobs and hours are in ServiceM8 and your invoices are in Xero. To put the cost of a job against the right revenue, Sidekick links each ServiceM8 client to its Xero contact.

How matching works

Sidekick compares email addresses first, then phone numbers, then names. It runs again after every sync.

  • Auto-matched: a strong match, usually on email or phone. Used straight away, and you can still change it.
  • Needs Review: a likely match that needs you to confirm.
  • Confirmed: you've said it's right.
  • No Match: nothing close enough, or you've rejected the suggestion.

Reviewing matches

  1. Open Client Matching from the menu. If you have several businesses, pick the Xero org at the top.
  2. Work through Needs Review. Press ▸ Details to see how the name, email and phone compared.
  3. Press ✓ Confirm if it's the same customer, or ✗ Reject if not.
  4. For anything in No Match, pick the right ServiceM8 client from the list and press Link.

A customer with no match still shows in Sidekick with their Xero revenue, but without job cost or profit.
